2012 World Finals on the Bonneville Salt Flats
Made it back from the salt flats yesterday afternoon, and we have a good idea of what to do on the bikes for next year. The red bike went the fastest it’s ever gone so far: 212.959 mph, and the fueler drag bike made it to 172.218 mph – 4 miles over the current record, but wasn’t able to directly back it up, so is not officially in the record book (yet!). (To set a record, a bike has to make two sequential runs that are higher than the standing record).
Gorgeous weather, the salt was perfect – a great week to go fast! We’ll post a more detailed account of the week later, once everything is unpacked and things settle down a bit. Congratulations to all of the riders and the excellent crew members for their dedication on the salt!
